Analysts' Notes
CharityWatch is unable to provide a letter grade rating for TIME'S UP Foundation at this time in consideration of its November 19, 2021 announcement of an organizational "reset" that will include the interim CEO stepping down by the end of 2021, and severance packages for its staff through March 2022. For this reason, CharityWatch has assigned TIME's UP Foundation a rating of "?" for its fiscal year ended 12/31/2019. CharityWatch has been unable to locate on the charity's website or in public databases more current audited financial statements or an IRS Form 990 tax filing for the charity's fiscal year ended 12/31/2020. In 2019 the charity reported raising cash contributions of more than $9.7 million, according to its audited financial statements of the same fiscal year. The TIME's UP organization released an operational audit dated November 16, 2021, in conjunction with its reset announcement. Widely reported governance issues at the nonprofit in 2021 have included the majority of its board members stepping down and a dissolution of its advisory board. TIME's UP Foundation is the 501(c)(3) public charity arm of the TIME's Up organization. CharityWatch has also assigned a "?" rating to the charity's 501(c)(4) social welfare arm, TIME's UP Now, for which we provide a separate rating for its fiscal year ended 2019. CharityWatch does provide a letter grade rating for National Women's Law Center, which administers and operates the TIME'S UP Legal Defense Fund through the National Women's Law Center Fund, LLC. TIME'S UP Now supported the TIME'S UP Legal Defense Fund in the past, according to the Statement of Program Service Accomplishments in Part III of the TIME'S UP Now Form 990 filing for the year ended 12/31/2019. At this time CharityWatch does not have information indicating whether or not this arrangement will continue in light of TIMES's Up's organizational "reset." |
