According to the Statement of Functional Expenses within the SMBG audited financial statements for the year ended December 31, 2022, SMBG reports $8,719,234 of "Grants to Sisters of Mary." This represents 88.4% of SMBG's reported Program Expenses, and 80.2% of its reported Total Expenses. In addition, CharityWatch is unable to provide a Cost to Raise $100 fundraising ratio for SMBG due to lacking the financial information we would need in order to complete a meaningful evaluation of the organization. SMBG is not required to file an IRS tax Form 990 with the IRS or to make such a document available for public inspection because it is considered a church that is exempt from such filing requirements.
