Indigenous Peoples' Day is on Monday, October 9th. For
the third straight year, the United States will officially observe and honor
Indigenous Peoples’ Day alongside Columbus Day. Indigenous Peoples’ Day
celebrates the history and contributions of Native Americans.
As of 2023, 29 U.S. states do not celebrate Columbus Day
and have renamed it or replaced it with Indigenous Peoples’ Day. Some states
recognize the day by official proclamation, while other states treat it as an
official state holiday.
