In September 2026, Islamic Relief USA (IRUSA) changed its name to Islamic Development & Empowerment in America (IDEA) following its separation from the Islamic Relief federation. IDEA remains the same U.S. 501(c)(3) organization that formerly operated as Islamic Relief USA, with the same federal tax identification number (EIN 95-4453134). Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW), a separately incorporated UK-based charity, announced on September 12, 2026, that its International General Assembly had voted to remove IRUSA from the international Islamic Relief federation. The U.S. organization subsequently announced its new IDEA name and states that it now operates independently of Islamic Relief Worldwide and the Islamic Relief federation. CharityWatch's rating and historical financial information for Islamic Relief USA therefore pertain to the same U.S. legal entity now operating as IDEA. |

According to the Islamic Relief USA and Affiliates (IRUSA) consolidated audit of December 31, 2024 (Note 1, Subsequent Events): "...During the year ended December 31, 2024, IRUSA recognized federal grants and contracts totaling $4,800,988. Subsequent to year-end, President Trump signed several executive orders (EOs) ordering the termination of federal assistance for programs that do not align with the new administration’s policies. As a result of those EOs, all of IRUSA’s federal grants and contracts were terminated on February 26, 2025. Any outstanding receivables as of December 31, 2024, that were related to those grants and contracts, have been collected." |
