Devastating Floods in Kentucky: Find Top-Rated Charities Helping Victims
CharityWatch announces a list of highly efficient and accountable charities involved in efforts to provide emergency assistance and aid for the flooding victims in Kentucky.
On July 28, 2022, nearly one foot of rain fell across Eastern Kentucky and much of Central Appalachia. The deluge of rain quickly flooded already swollen rivers, streams, gullies, and culverts. Critical infrastructure like roads and bridges were severely damaged or demolished, and rain in subsequent days exacerbated an already dire situation for residents. As of August 3, 2022, 37 people have died as a result of the intense flooding, thousands are still without power, and countless businesses and homes have been flooded, and, in some cases, destroyed. The region is facing another weather threat as temperatures are expected to soar in coming days and already struggling communities brace themselves for more potential devastation.
The people of Kentucky and surrounding states need immediate aid and relief.
The charities listed below are Top-Rated by CharityWatch for spending at least 75% of their cash budgets on programs; for maintaining fundraising efficiency of $25 or less to raise each $100 in cash donations; and for meeting CharityWatch's governance & transparency benchmarks.
