Veterans Charities That May Not Need Your $

High Asset Charities

When a charity solicits us for donations, we may reasonably assume that what we give will be used to support the cause, such as programs to help veterans or military personnel, in the near future. This is not always the case.

For example, if you donate to Special Operations Warrior Foundation, this charity may not use your donation for nearly 8 years based on its fiscal 2022 cash spending levels! The charity is financially efficient, spending 90% of its annual cash expenses on its programs and only 10% on overhead, and spending only $6 to raise each $100 of cash support. However, it could continue to operate at 2022 cash spending levels for 7.9 years without raising another penny of donations or other revenue.

If you are a donor who wants to support the current programs of veterans and military charities, you may want to consider how much money a particular charity already has before making a donation.
