Its membership includes officers (clergy), soldiers and adherents (laity), members of varied activity groups and volunteers who serve as advisors, associates and committed participants in its service functions.

The accompanying [audited] consolidated financial statements also include the financial activity of The Salvation Army Services, Inc., a non-religious corporation [organized as a 501(c)(3) public charity]."

"The accompanying [audited] consolidated financial statements include all programs and operations of the Central Territory [of The Salvation Army].

The Central Territory comprises the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. The Central Territory is incorporated in the State of Illinois, with the corporate headquarters located in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. All intercompany accounts and transactions have been eliminated [in the consolidated audit]..."

According to The Salvation Army - Central Territory audited Consolidated Statement of Activities for the year ended September 30, 2023, the Central Territory received donations-in-kind and contributed services on which it placed a value of approximately $134,559,000.

"The Central Territory has entered into deductible and security agreements with two insurance companies that obligate the Central Territory to provide security of payments under the policies. To meet the request for security, the Central Territory has hypothecated approximately $12,384,000 of marketable securities. No amounts have been drawn against these securities."

"For fiscal years 2023 and 2022, the Central Territory made payments for administrative services and World Service Support to The Salvation Army National Headquarters (NHQ) of approximately $3,593,000 and $6,559,000, respectively, and to The Salvation Army International Headquarters of approximately $13,590,000 and $7,857,000, respectively."
