Top-Rated Charities Providing Aid and Assistance for the Victims of the Moroccan Earthquake
CharityWatch announces a list of highly
efficient and accountable charities involved in efforts to provide emergency
assistance and aid for the victims of the recent earthquake that hit Morocco on
September 8, 2023.
On Friday, September 8th a powerful 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck in Morocco’s High Atlas Mountain range. The quake’s
epicenter was not far from the popular city of Marrakech, a tourist and economic
hub in Morocco. It is estimated that nearly 3,000 people are dead while
thousands have been injured. According to the World Health Organization, more than
300,000 people have been affected by the massive earthquake. The earthquake is
the strongest and deadliest to strike the nation in more than 60 years.
Morocco’s government is under pressure to accept more international aid. It has
accepted help from four countries so far – Spain, the UK, Qatar, and the United
Arab Emirates.
The full extent of the devastation will not be known for
weeks or months.

and relief.
